Dell Reveals First UltraSharp HDR 4K Monitor

Dell just revealed its newest monitor, the UltraSharp UP2718Q. It’s a 27-inch 4K desktop monitor, but the biggest addition is support for HDR10 standard. Dell revealed the new device at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show today, along with two other UltraSharp monitors.

The monitor boasts a peak brightness of 1,000 units and Rec2020 color coverage, which should be welcome from video editors. This monitor allows creative professionals to view and edit HDR10 content to create incredibly realistic images.

Dell is also boasting of the UP2718Q’s coverage across other color standards, including 100 percent Adobe RGB, 100 percent sRGB, 100 percent REC 709, and 97.7 percent DCI-P3. The real draw, however, is that HDR10 support, which will allow the display to produce wide contrast between deep blacks and bright whites with compatible content. The UP2718Q will be available from Dell in the U.S. on May 23 for $1,999.99.

“As the No. 1 monitor brand¹ in the world, we deliver the latest, most innovative display technology to our customers to meet and exceed their expectations, whether that’s at work or at home” said Bert Park, senior vice president and general manager, Dell Software & Peripherals.

In addition to the UltraSharp 27 4K HDR Monitor which is being marketed towards video editors, Dell also introduced a pair of its InfinityEdge design displays aimed at consumers, one a 27-inch 4K display (sans HDR) and the other a 25-inch display.
